Plumbing Safety And Tips During The Pandemic

Of course, the issues surrounding the current pandemic have everyone more concerned with their loved ones’ health and safety. And that makes each of us ever more vigilant in determining whom to allow into our homes and near our loved ones. But it is also clear that we also need to be aware that problems happen during this time. We must evaluate when it is time to welcome a professional, such as a trusted plumber, into our home. You cannot survive in your home without fully functional plumbing. But by following a few tips, you can hopefully eliminate some potential plumbing issues and feel extra confident if you do need to call a plumber to your home.

Protect Your Drains

This is not the time to have a clogged sink, tub, or toilet drain. And the best way to prevent these issues is to be very careful about what you are washing down the drain and flushing. Starting with your sink and tub drains, be extra cautious to prevent foreign objects from washing down these drains. Only water and the assorted tiny bits of dirt should find their way down sink and tub drains. Install small wire mesh screens to help catch stray hairs, beard trimmings, and even the odd piece of plastic or dental floss that might slip past your fingers and head for the drain.

When it comes to your toilet, never flush any paper product other than toilet paper. Even the so-called flushable wipes can begin to form a clog because they are slow to breakdown. And when it comes to small bits of trash, bandages, or balls of wadded up hair, use the trashcan, not the toilet. Following these simple guidelines is the best way to avoid a nasty drain clog that will require the help of a licensed plumber.

Be Proactive

Small leaks are fast and affordable to repair. But if ignored, these little bumps in the road can turn into mountains that are very costly to overcome. So invest a few minutes each week or two to inspect your plumbing fixtures and pipes. Look for drips of water that would indicate a tiny leak. Also, be on the lookout for corrosion or calcium buildup on fixtures, pipes, and fittings that could indicate a problem. And if you notice anything, call your trusted plumber for an appointment. Fixing these issues quickly will save you time, money, and frustration.

Know That We Are Concerned Too

As a member of your community, your plumber is also concerned about the potential health risks we face each day. And as with everyone in the service industry, we are taking extra precautions for the safety of our customers, ourselves, and our families.

We are wearing masks, washing hands often, cleaning tools and equipment after each use, and remaining a safe distance from others throughout our day. We are keeping our vehicles supplied with added cleaning products. And we pledge to return your home to a clean and safe environment before we call our job complete.

We Are Doing Our Best- Please Be Patient

At Action Air & Plumbing, we are doing our very best to serve our customers safely and professionally. But from time to time, we experience scheduling issues due to our new, more stringent health and safety precautions. We ask our team of licensed plumbers to pay careful attention to their health and call off for the day if they are not feeling well. And anyone exhibiting COVID symptoms must see a medical professional and be cleared before returning to work.

We are also asking each of our customers to take the same precautions to avoid the spread of COVID. If you feel ill or someone in your household is not well, please call us at (806) 787-6501 to reschedule your appointment. We understand that these issues can appear rather quickly. We will be happy to reschedule once you feel better. But please, don’t risk the health and safety of your family or our families.

Please remember, we are all facing the same challenges. And at Action Air & Plumbing, we will do everything we can to safely assist our neighbors in the community during this challenging situation.

"Very prompt and courteous. Called me an hour before our scheduled window, asking if they could come ahead of time. Upon arrival, they listened to my description of the issue, my questions and concerns, then gave me sound advice. After clearing clogged drain, they stayed behind, cleaning up a mess that wasn’t their fault. They are MY guys from now on."
